5 Mohanlal Guest Appearances Stole the Show

The name or a small appearance is enough because Mohanlal means quality. There are some roles of the king of the Malayalam film industry Mohanlal where he spent less than 15 minutes on screen but the entire attention was taken by the Legend. Today we will be checking out some iconic guest appearances of Mohanlal.

Summer in Bethlehem (1998)

In a film filled with stars, Mohanlal appeared in the final act as Niranjan, a prisoner awaiting execution. The legendary actor was featured in only one scene and a handful of dialogues about life, love, and the “letter,” he shifted the entire emotional weight of the movie. It remains the gold standard for how a cameo can elevate a film to a classic.

Kayamkulam Kochunni (2018)

Lalettan entered as the legendary highwayman Ithikkara Pakki to mentor Nivin Pauly’s Kochunni. The physical transformation, the wild energy, and that grand entrance! Even though it was a special appearance, the “Pakki” fever dominated the film’s promotion and the audience’s memory.

Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare (1986)

For most of the film, we only hear his voice. He is the mysterious “Telephone Uncle” who befriends a lonely child. To command a movie using only your voice is a feat few can achieve. When he finally appears in the climax, it is one of the most heartbreaking and poetic moments in 80s cinema.

Manu Uncle (1988)

In this Mammootty-starrer, Mohanlal makes a surprise appearance as himself. It showcased the incredible camaraderie between the Big Ms. Seeing a superstar play a slightly exaggerated, humorous version of himself alongside his “rival” was a treat for fans and a testament to his comic timing.

Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989)

Just as the protagonist (Jayaram) is about to find his footing, Lalettan arrives as Achuthan, the local hero and the “preferred” suitor. It’s a masterclass in screen presence. He didn’t have to do much; just his walking style and that effortless charm were enough to create a hilarious tension that made the climax unforgettable.
