Thenmavin Kombathu is one of the unforgettable and evergreen movies that came from the combination of the legendary director Priyadarshan and the king of the Malayalam film industry Mohanlal. The movie was originally released in 1994, and now it is coming back with 4K audio format and enhanced visuals.
The super hit classical cinema – Thenmavin Kombathu, headlined by Mohanlal and Shobana, and the movie will return to theatres on October 1. The rerelease date has been announced by Matinee Now. It is the company in charge of the restoration and the film will arrive on the big screen in an upgraded 4K Dolby Atmos format.
Thenmavin Kombathu won two National Film Awards — Best Cinematography for KV Anand and Best Production Design for Sabu Cyril — and five Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.
It features a fictional rural backdrop and tells the story of Sreekrishnan and Manikyan, whose friendship is tested when they both fall in love with the same woman, Karthumbi. Nedumudi Venu plays Sreekrishnan, while Mohanlal and Shobana appear as the lead pair, Manikyan and Karthumbi. The film also has Priyadarshinan’s regulars like Sreenivasan, Pappu, Sukumari, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and KPAC Lalitha in memorable roles.
